Dr. Shrum was born in Zanesville, Ohio in 1914 and married his wife Jayne McCreery in 1944. He was a graduate of South High School in Youngstown, Ohio, later earning his bachelor’s degree from Ohio University and his Doctor in Dental Surgery from the Ohio State University. He was a dentist for more than 40 years in Canfield. He passed on his love for dentistry to his daughter, Dee Dee Shrum Wacksman, who later became a dental hygienist. This scholarship was created to support students in the dental hygiene program.
