Charles W. Baird, Ph.D. Memorial Scholarship
Dr. Charles Baird from Pineville, Kentucky joined the English Department of Youngstown State University in 1969. That year he also visited England to study the atmosphere of the great English authors. He developed a strong interest in the author John Bunyan, in which he later contributed the Bunyan section in the Reader’s Encyclopedia of English Literature. His book, John Bunyan: A Study in Narrative Technique, was published posthumously after his sudden death in 1974. This scholarship was established by his wife and children, in his memory, to support a student who demonstrates excellence in English and/or English literature.
